About
This site is meant to serve as a ressource on the cinemas of Southeast Asia, a fascinating, yet little known area of world cinema. Read the comprehensive introduction to this blog here.
This site is maintained by Dr. Tilman Baumgärtel.
I write on film and media for newspapers, magazines and academic publications, and I have written and edited seven books, including a monography of the German director Harun Farocki, and books on internet art, computergames and the cinema of Southeast Asia. And a cook book… :)
I am currently teaching at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in the Department of Media and Communication. From 2004 to 2009 I taught at the Film Institute of the University of the Philippines, Manila.
