March of the Genies

Tith Chandara , one of our students at the Department of Media and Communication at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, shot some footage at the yearly March of a Genies in Takmao/Cambodia, a Chinese festival that nobody know much about and where almost none of the participants seem not to be Chinese. It takes place at the same time as the Lantern festival at other Chinese communities, but it is a bit more… bloody.

The footage is a bit gruesome to watch, but it will make for a great documentary. Watch a HD trailer here:

    The DVD is not available right now because the footage are not enough. There will be some other shootings in the following year I hope.
