Nadi Tofighian in Phnom Penh
Nadi Tofighian´s presentation at my department was great: I had not reallly understood how much ground-breaking archival research he had done on early Southeast Asian cinema. He really got his fingers dirty, leaving through old newspapers and magazines in dusty national and film archives all over the region.
I am really looking forward to his dissertation on the cinematic trade routes in Southeast Asia. In the meanwhile, his essay on Jose Nepomuceno, which covers some of things he talked about here in Phnom Penh, is a good read.
Thanks for stopping by!
