An interview with Pen-Ek
Kong Rithdee has an interview in the Bangkok Post with Pen-ek Ratanaruang on his new movie Nymph, which will be the only Thai film in this year´s Cannes Film Festival. It is about a love triangle between a couple from Bangkok and a tree spirit.
Says the director in the interview: “I told myself from the very beginning that the ghosts and the humans in this film will deal with each other sensibly like civilised beings. We never intended the ghosts to be scary or vicious. At the beginning of the film one character says that we humans aren’t the only beings roaming this world, but the spirits are also living among us. And that’s how I approached the story; I don’t separate the humans from the spirits.”
